Why?
I built my first homemade TiVo in December of 2006. It was a Christmas gift for my fiance. I’ve continued tinkering and fiddling with it and finally decided to share what I’ve learned.
When?
Buildadvr.com is always updated weekly on Sunday. Of course you might get a treat on other days if you’re lucky 
A Positive Place
I know that each HTPC is as unique as its owners and there truly is no right answer in this world. On this site you’ll never hear me say that your soundcard sucks or that some remote is useless. You make your own choices, I’ll provide information based on my experiences.
A Place for Beginners
This site is aimed at people starting their HTPC journey, so you won’t drown in acronyms and jargon.
