Instead of clearing the Desktop you can just set Media Portal as active Shell instead of Explorer, this way you won't have anything displayed despite the background image (no desktop, no taskbar, etc.)... to launch explorer you can run the task manager and go to File > Run Task... and type explorer.exe or use the MultiShortcut Plugin.

To set Media Portal as the active Shell you have to do the following steps:

1. Run regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
3. Edit the Key named "Shell" and set the Value to the Path where the Media Portal executable is (e.g.: C:\Program Files\Media Portal\MediaPortal.exe)

@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don't have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn't write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.

I have in my possession one (1) HD and two (2) regular Directv DVR's. I would like to know if there is anyway they can be used as video storage and I would accomplish this. Thanks

I think a tuner card in a PC will not work with Verizon FIOS. I just had FIOS installed and the tuners in my HD TV will not work. I had to rent either a stinko NTSC TV digital converter box, or a HD set top box, or a Motorola DVR from Verizon. Have you any info about FIOS and a tuner card ? I would love to save some bucks and do my own DVR'ing and converting.

I just have to say this was probably one of the most effective posts I've had the chance to go over on the subject so far. I do not know where you gather up all your information but I am impressed! I am gunna send a few individuals over here to check this out. Amazing, simply amazing. I am just getting into crafting articles myself, nothing close to your writing potential (doh) but I would love for you to take my stuff sometime! bowfelx series 7 treadmill

Moving Pictures should only be included when foldering is inserted into the code. Currently it's not useable for a diverse movie-watching household (think Mom, Dad, 2 kids far enough apart in age to need different movies available, live-in sister-in-law). Once that feature (promised for over a year now) gets in, then it would be on my Top-5. As it is, I've had to resort to using WMC on the machine for DVDs.
