So like millions of others, you’ve snapped up an iPhone. And you’ve just completed recording all of Season 3 of The Office using Mediaportal. Is there a way to move your lovely DVR recordings onto your even lovelier iPhone? You bet.

File Formats

First, a little explanation of why we have five steps at all. Apple’s products (iPhone, iPod, Apple TV and the iTunes Store) all support a video format cryptically named H.264 (here’s the wikipedia entry). Your DVR software does not record to H.264 nor do you likely compress your shows into this format. So you’re going to need a utility to do this for you.

Steps

Now that you’re a video format expert, let’s get to the meat:

  1. Download and install Videora’s iPhone converter (there’s also an iPod converter)
  2. Select the file you want to convert.
  3. Press convert and wait…
  4. Add your new video to iTunes.
  5. Sync your iPhone.

Yes! The Office on the go!
