Since it’s been a couple years since I last ranked my top five mediaportal plugins, I thought I’d revamp the list. Here are the five most useful plugins - not including those from the previous list - that I use with Mediaportal.
Top Five Most Useful Mediaportal Plugins
- Moving Pictures: Insane movie management! Moving pictures is the sibling to Mediaportal’s TV Series plugin. Little user interaction is required, once the plugin sees a new movie file, it is automatically added to the database and images and imdb information are downloaded as well. Beautiful skins make this plugin an absolute winner.
- Last FM: Access your favorite personalized, online radio stations. Last FM is a website that tracks your listening habits and builds playlists that you may be interested in. This pluging hooks Last FM’s functionality into Mediaportal. A must-have for music lovers and users of the popular webservice.
- Online Videos: Mediaportal’s answer to Boxee. Access online videos from Youtube, Google Videos, CNN, Apple Trailers, and more. No support yet for Hulu…
- Netflix: Access your Netflix queue through Mediaportal. Stream movies and TV Shows through the instant-watch feature. For me, a major step in cutting cable.
- Showtimes: I may not hit the movie theaters like I used to, but this handy plugin lets me access showtimes without leaving the TV. It also gets ooh and ahhs from visitors (and potential HTPC converts
).
